States passing resolution against CAA misleading people: JP Nadda

BJP Working President JP Nadda has said that some states passing resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act are misleading people as citizenship falls under the Centre’s purview.

Mr Nadda was addressing a gathering of intellectuals at Vadodara in Gujarat last evening. He said that Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is legally passed by the Parliament. Mr. Nadda was in Vadodara in connection with BJP’s Jan Jagaran Abhiyan to counter the misinformation being spread on CAA.

He alleged that opposition Congress never condemned the violence protest by mobs on this issue. He alleged that the aim of Congress is not the welfare of the people but to mislead the people.

The BJP working President said that CAA is now implemented and refugees are bound to get the citizenship. He said that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had demanded in Rajya Sabha to take action for the people religiously persecuted in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Mr Nadda said, now, when Modi government has made the arrangements for the refugees, Congress party is opposing it. Union Minister Arjun Meghwal also addressed the gathering of intellectuals in Bhavnagar yesterday.

State BJP has 37 intellectual gatherings and 39 public rallies in the state till now to create awareness about CAA.
