Sri Lanka has postponed Pakistan’s under-19 team’s tour following the Easter Sunday suicide bombings that killed 253 in the island country, Dawn reports.
According to the report, the request was to postpone the tour for a short time. The report is based on a revelation by a source to Reuters news agency.
The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the blasts on three churches and four hotels. Following the terror attacks, the island nation had declared emergency. The Sri Lankan government has launched a crackdown on Islamic terror groups. Sri Lanka-based National Touheed Jama’ath’s role is also suspected in the bombings.
According the Dawn report, the Pakistan under-19 side, captained by Rohail Nazir, was scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on April 30 to play two four-day matches, followed by three one-dayers. Galle and Hambantota were the venues for the matches.
