The condition of popular playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam aka SPB, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in early August, has suffered a ‘setback’, according to a Press release issued by MGM Healthcare, the hospital in which SPB is undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
“There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of Covid since 5th August 2020. In a late night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated, and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical,” the release stated.
According to the release, he is currently under observation by the team of experts from critical care and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored.
On August 5, SPB got himself admitted to MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai after showing mild symptoms. Though his doctors advised home isolation, SP Balasubrahmanyam decided that he would get himself hospitalised since his family members are worried. He was confident that he would get discharged in a couple of days, but it has been over a week now.
Balasubrahmanyam released a video from the hospital and said that he got himself admitted to recuperate and take rest. He further requested people not to call him and bother him as he can’t answer all the calls.
