Sikhs Across the World Celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti

Guru Nanak Jayanti is being celebrated across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism today.

One among the holiest festivals of the Sikh community, it is even more special this year as it marks the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

According to the Hindu calender, Gurupurab falls on a full moon day in the month of Kartik Puranmashi while, in the month of October and November, as the Gregorian calendar suggests.

Gurudwaras are abuzz with chanting of Shabad Keertan and preparing for processions of Prakashotsav.
