Security beefed up across Kashmir Valley ahead of Republic Day celebrations

In Kashmir Valley, security has been beefed up ahead of the 72nd Republic Day celebrations. Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed in large numbers around all the venues where the celebrations will be held. Check-posts and barricades have been put up at several places and people are allowed after thorough checking.

In Srinagar, all roads leading towards the Sher -e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, the main venue for the function, have been sealed on both sides and no movement of vehicles is allowed without proper passes. A senior police official told AIR News that a multi-layered security set-up has been put in place around the venue and the security forces have been put on high . He said that for aerial surveillance, drones are also being used. Meanwhile, all preparations for the Republic Day functions have been finalised by the Administration.

On Sunday, the full-dress rehearsal was held in Srinagar and all other district headquarters of the Valley.
