In a major development that brings merry to the Maharashtra BJP, noted Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is to join the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP), an ally of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra, say reports. The news was shared by Mahadev Jankar, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Maharashtra on Sunday.
Jankar, also the founding president of RSP, made the announcement at an event organised to mark the party’s foundation day at Shiva Ji Park ground in Mumbai. “Just now you heard the byte of big boss… Sanjay Dutt has given date of 25 September to join (RSP)… he is in Dubai (today)… if he would have been here he would have joined,” Jankar said.
A 17-second video in which Sanjay Dutt wished Jankar “very best” was shown on the party’s foundation day. Addressing Jankar an “elder brother,” Sanjay Dutt said “I wish the best to Rashtriya Samaj Paksha’s founding president. I would have definitely come if I was there (in Mumbai)”. The news, however, has made RSP and BJP activists rejoice the entry of their favourite actor to politics.
