South Korean tech giant Samsung will reportedly invest Rs 4,825 crore in Uttar Pradesh by shifting its mobile and IT display production unit from China to the state.
The Yogi Adityanath government has also decided to provide tax and other incentives to Samsung to set up shop in Noida.
The new unit is expected to generate over 500 direct jobs.
India will be the third country to get such a unit.
In a statement, the UP government spokesperson said: “This is the first high-technique project of South Korea’s multi-national major which is being set up in India after relocating from China and the country will become third in the world to have such a unit.”
Interestingly, Samsung already operates one of the biggest mobile phone manufacturing plants in the world, in Uttar Pradesh.
