Travancore Devaswom Board president A Padmakumar was shown black flags by a group of youths protesting over the Board’s flip-flop in the Sabarimala young women entry case at Pandalam, the birthplace of Sabarimala presiding deity Lord Ayyappa. Kumar turned up at the palace to hold discussions with the members of the Pandalam palace.
The youth shouted slogans against the Board chief and said he should resign from the post as he has failed to protect the interests of the devotees.
In the wake of the verdict, Padmakumar said women in his family won’t visit the temple violating the age-old traditions. He had also said the Devaswom Board would approach Supreme Court for a review petition. However, after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan censured him he backtracked and decided to toe the CPI(M) line.
