A Coronavirus positive man who was undergoing treatment in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district ran away from the hospital has been arrested and sent back to the hospital, according to the police.
Safid Miyan, the patient, is associated with Tabliqi Jamaat and had attended the Delhi meeting last month. A manhunt was launched and the police arrested him from a brick kiln on Tuesday afternoon, said Inspector General Praveen Kumar.
The State police force has been meticulously tracing the contact lists of Jamaatis who had participated in Delhi meeting last month. The 65-year-old corona positive patient jumped out of the window using his clothes as a rope to scale down. He broke the window pane and wire mesh, said a policeman.
Safid Miyan, a resident of Sursuri in Nepal, had been quarantined after he was found to be a member of the Jamaat. He had tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday and was undergoing treatment at the primary health centre in Khekhra.
Safid Miyan was a part of a group of 17 from Nepal, who had attended the Delhi Tabliqi Jamaat gathering. Superintendent of Police, Baghpat had issued an appeal with a photograph of Safid Miyan, asking people to inform the police if he is seen anywhere.
The police are now trying to track the people who were in contact with the patient after he escaped from the hospital.
