Rajya Sabha has adopted a motion to send the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament.
The Lok Sabha approved the motion in this regard yesterday. The ten-member committee will be headed by BJP MP Bhupendra Yadav.
Moving the motion in the Upper House, Information Technology and Communication Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, there is a need for wider consultation over the legislation.
He said, the government has made provision of robust mechanism to protect the data of Indians.
