Right to carry out inspections anywhere without serving notice: Kerala to establish Public Health Authority

A public health authority will come into force in the state very soon. This authority will have the powers to ensure health of the people. It is learned that the state government will establish the body in the state, district and panchayat levels, reports Mathrubhumi news.

The authority will have the right to carry out inspections anywhere without serving notice as part of assuring public health.

The public health authority will be established on the basis of the Kerala Public Health Ordinance issued by the state governor.

The health department director will be the state public authority and DMO will be named as the district public health authority.

The medical officer in the Public Health Centres of each panchayat will be in charge of the local public health authority.

The authority will act as a single system where the people will be able to complain about any issues that affects public health.

A local public health authority will be established in all local government institutions. Health inspectors and other officials will assist this authority.

Service of all government departments including police will be provided to the public health authority as per demand.
