To commemorate the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, a two-day national seminar was held in Delhi recently. People from all walks of life took part in the event.
Speaking at the event, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said Sri Guru Gobind Singh was a role model for all of us and especially for the younger generation. “There existed no person in the past or in the present who can be compared to the tenth Sikh Guru,” he said. Dr Jaspal Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Patiala University, expressed his gratitude towards the Punjabi Academy for the initiative of conducting a national seminar on the Guru. He added that students must take a pledge to inculcate the teaching of the Gurus in their life so that we are able to lay the foundation of a culturally rich and knowledge based society.
The former Vice-Chancellor also said the university would be carrying out various activities to celebrate the 350th birth anniversary of the Guru. In his address He said it is imperative that we involve the younger generation and latest communication technologies to disseminate the message of Guru Granth sahib. The birth of Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh on this land were monumental events in the history of mankind. He also said Guru Gobind Singh helped downtrodden to become kings and warriors and he gave voice to the voiceless.
