Rape and cheating: Mumbai woman files FIR against top CPI(M) leader’s son

A Mumbai resident and former bar dancer in Dubai has filed an FIR against Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan alias Binoy Balakrishnan Kodiyeri for raping her between 2009 and 2018, Times of India has reported. Binoy is the son of CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Binoy has been charged under IPC sections 376 and 376(2) (n) (rape), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

According to the TOI report, the rape survivor, mother of an eight-year-old boy, had filed the case after she realised that Binoy was taking her for a ride. Another report in a Malayalam paper said, Binoy arranged accommodation for her in Mumbai and used to rape her regularly on the promise of marriage. The rape survivor claims that the child was born out of this relationship.

The rape survivor told a reporter that she decided to file FIR after she came to know that Binoy was already married and has two children in Kerala. “Initially Binoy used to splurge money on her and take care of all her needs. He had also had promised to the woman’s parents that he would marry her. In 2010, a flat was rented in Andheri and they were staying there. Binoy used to visit the flat regularly. Money was given every month. But by 2015, Binoy started ignoring her. Despite her requests, he stopped sending money. Later, he refused to take calls,” the rape survivor told a journalist.
