In a bizarre development, a trial court in Ranchi has granted bail to a Hindu woman who was arrested for allegedly hurting “religious sentiments” of Muslims by posting a Facebook comment on slain thief Tabrez Ansari on the condition that she distributed five copies of Quran to various Islamic organisations.
According to media reports, magistrate Manish Singh has ordered Richa Bharti to distribute a copy of Quran to Anjuman Islamia Committee, the petitioner. Besides, she was asked to take an acknowledgement receipt.
Bharti was also ordered to donate four other copies of the Quran to other educational institutions. From all these places, she will have to collect receipts and submit them to the court within 15 days. She will have to deposit two bonds of Rs 7,000 each.
Anjuman Islamia had moved court against Bharti over the post, saying that her comments hurt the Muslims. On Sunday, the Jharkhand Police arrested her.
Won’t distribute Quran, says Bharti
Meanwhile, according to a report in Zee Bihar-Jharkhand, Bharti has said she was not ready to distribute Quran for bail. “I am not ready for this. There are many Muslims who upload such posts on social media. Just like Faizu who makes videos on TikTak. He says if Tabrez’s son take revenge, don’t say he’s a terrorist. So my point is why only Muslims become terrorists? Hundreds of Kashimiri Pandits were killed and forced to flee from Kashmir. Nobody has become a terrorist,” she said.
