A sixty-year-old Muslim prison inmate who was tortured by policemen in Kota Central Jail, has succumbed to his injuries on Friday. The death did not evoke any response from professional outrage brigades as it happened in Congress-ruled Rajasthan.
Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Mangrol town in Baran district, was imprisoned in connection with a murder case. According to reports, Ramzan died due to multiple organ failure. In a video shared widely on Twitter, the victim is seen narrating the ordeal. The video was shot when he was admitted in a hospital.
In the video, the victim says he was brutalised by cops using iron rods and pipes. The police told Indus Scrolls that Ramzan was serving a sentence for murder, died at the New Medical College Hospital on Friday night after a prolonged illness.
According to an NGO activist, Rizwan, the son of the victim, had claimed that before death, his father had shown a video of him being beaten by the police.
