On the controversial primitive ritual at the Tripunithura Sri Poornathrayesa temple, the High Court has decided to voluntarily consider the issue as a petition on Tuesday. The petition is being considered by a division bench comprising Justice PG Ajit Kumar and Justice Anil K. Narendran.
Opposition parties in the case include the Devaswom Secretary of the State Government, the Cochin Devaswom Board Secretary and the Tripunithura Devaswom Officer.
As per reports, twelve Brahmins are seated inside the Thidappally, where the offerings are made in the temple and the ritual is conducted under the name ’12 Namaskaram’. ‘Kalkazhukichootu’ ritual costs 20,000 rupees.
The Cochin Devaswom Board had recently abandoned a similar function scheduled to be held at the Kodungallur Edavilang Sivakrishnapuram Mahadevar Temple as part of a renovation ceremony, as it became controversial.
