Political parties are gearing up for Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana. Scrutiny of nomination papers has been completed in Maharashtra.
As per the figure released by the Election Commission, nomination papers of 4,739 candidates have been found valid.
As tomorrow is the last date of withdrawal of candidature, leaders from different parties are engaged in persuading the rebel candidates to withdraw from the poll fray.
The ruling, as well as the opposition parties, are holding internal meetings to chalk out a strategy and to reach out to the people to garner votes.
In Haryana, scrutiny of nomination papers is still underway. So far scrutiny of 1,764 nomination papers have been completed and 1,416 nomination papers were found valid while 345 nomination papers were rejected.
The two states will go to polls on October 21. Counting will be taken up on October 24.
