Shocking reports have emerged suggesting police negligence in the case of a Muslim gang attacking a Hindu couple in Kozhikode. The couple, after being assaulted, approached traffic police for help, only to be directed to the Nadakkavu police station instead of receiving immediate assistance.
The incident unfolded when a five-member gang targeted the couple while they were traveling on a motorbike. According to the husband, identified as Ashwin, the attack occurred after he confronted the gang for eve-teasing his wife.
Immediately after the assault, the couple wasted no time and promptly filed a complaint at the Nadakkavu police station. They provided the authorities with crucial information such as the registration numbers of the vehicles involved in the incident.
Recounting the harrowing experience, Ashwin spoke to reporters, stating, “The incident happened around 10 pm. My wife and I were on our way to have dinner after watching a movie. At that time, five men on two scooters began following us. They tailed us while teasing us with a song. When one of the individuals winked at my wife, I questioned him. In response, one of the men attacked me, and they hurled verbal abuses at us.”
Ashwin emphasized that there was no provocation from their side, expressing confusion as to why they were targeted. Unfortunately, due to the rain, the couple was unable to record a video of the attack. They were left defenseless against the assault carried out by complete strangers. Ashwin suspects that the attackers may have been under the influence of alcohol, as one of them physically assaulted him through his helmet.
This incident has raised concerns among the populace, particularly regarding the security of individuals, especially during nighttime, as the Muslim population in Kerala continues to grow.
