Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be treated with the highest honour during his forthcoming visit to Bangladesh to attend the Mujib Centenary Celebrations.
Speaking to media in Sylhet, Dr. Momen said that the government has invited Prime Minister Modi as the premier of India, which was its closest ally during the liberation war, reports BSS, the official news agency of the country.
Regarding some protests held in Bangladesh on Delhi riots, Dr. Momen said that people of democratic countries have a right to express their opinion. He said that the common people of Bangladesh will show respect to the Prime Minister of India.
Speaking about the statement of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir opposing the visit of Prime Minister Modi, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said that it is meant to provoke communal disharmony in the country.
Speaking to media in Dhaka on Tuesday, the Information Minister said that what has happened in India was its internal matter. He said that the Mujib centenary celebration will be incomplete without India’s participation.
