Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet about 100 Anganwadi-ASHA workers, drawn from different parts of the country, at his residence. The government has recently hiked the salaries of Anganwadi-AASHA workers. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) chief Saji Narayan and other senior leaders of the organisation will also accompany them. BMS had been campaigning for the hike in monthly honorarium. “We thank the government for increasing the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi-Asha workers. This has been a long-standing demand,” said Narayan. The BMS chief also thanked the government for several pro-labour initiatives taken recently.
Besides hike in monthly honorarium, all accredited social health activists will be brought under the coverage of various social security schemes and provided free insurance cover under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Prime Minister Suraksha Bima Yojana.
The social health activists will not have to pay any premium for the insurance coverage and will get Rs 4 lakh in case of any untoward incident, the prime minister said during a video interaction with Asha, ANM (auxiliary nurse midwife) and Anganwadi workers from across the country.
