Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached out to the people of Pakistan and extended “greetings & best wishes to the people on the National Day of Pakistan”. PM Modi stated this on a message sent to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to dawn.com.
“It is time that [the people] of Sub-continent work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive & prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence,” PM Modi said in the message, according to a tweet by Khan.
By this PM Modi wants to give a message that he was not against the people of Pakistan but against terrorists operating from that country.
Meanwhile, India has decided to boycott a reception at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi to mark Pakistan’s National Day as several separatists leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have been invited to the event. The Ministry of External Affairs said It said no Indian representative will attend similar events in Islamabad also.
“India has decided not to send any representative to attend to attend the Pakistan National Day celebrations today,” stated External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar.
On Wednesday, the US had asked Pakistan to take sustained, verifiable and irreversible action against the perpetrators of terrorism, while warning the country that another terror attack on India will prove to be “extremely problematic”, NDTV reported. “We need to see Pakistan taking concrete and sustained action to reign in the terrorist groups, mainly the Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Lashkar-e-Taiba in order to ensure that we don’t have re-escalation (of tension) in the region,” a senior administration official told reporters at the White House.
