A 68-year-old man died of the novel coronavirus here, taking the number of COVID-19 deaths in Kerala to two, the government said on Tuesday. The condition of the man was “extremely critical”, a press release from the state-run Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and Hospital said.
The patient was on ventilator support for the past five days and was suffering from high blood pressure. He was also on dialysis, it said. The first death in the state from COVID-19 was reported from Chullickal in Kochi.
The second coronavirus death in the state has evoked panic among people for the deceased had attended a number of public functions in the past days. As per reports authorities have not yet been able to complete the route map of the deceased Abdul Aziz. Following the incident, hundreds of people who had associated with him may have to stay under observation.
His wife is an active member of Kudumbasree Yojana and his daughter is a KSRT bus conductor. Apart from this, he had also attended several ceremonies in the locality.
