An Islamic radical of Pakistani origin who had vandalized the Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurudwara in Derby in England has been arrested by the police on Monday. The attack caught on CCTV camera took place on Monday. He had posted a note on Kashmir on the entrance of the place of worship.
The police are also investigating a possible association of the man with other groups. Indian and Sikh organisations and political leaders have condemned the act. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted: “Shocking news of vandalism of Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurudwara in Derby, the UK by a man of Pakistani origin, who’s been arrested. Such intolerance and hatred must end if humanity has to survive, especially when the world is in the midst of an unprecedented crisis (sic).”
The note read: “Try to help Kashmir people otherwise problem everyone (sic).” The man had given his phone number also on it.
