CM Pinarayi Vijayan says that the government is not sure if there will be enough money to pay the salary of April month indicating that all the government’s revenue streams have come to a halt due to coronavirus outbreak.
There has been an unprecedented crisis like never before, he said to the reporters. Finance meant for relief cannot be utilised for salary payment. All sources of income, including taxes have closed. In view of this the chief minister asked government officials and teachers to donate one month’s salary.
Those who cannot pay their salaries at once should be paid in instalments. The government, including the health sector has to bear all the expenses related to coronavirus treatment. This will put the government in a state of financial burden, said Pinarayi Vijayan.
