Education was completely messed up by the last Mughal to remotest confines of absurdities. From the era of 99% people being educated with 75% of them being highly educated in 7.5 lakh Gurukula-s dispersed across the nation, Nehrus India boasted a mere 14% literacy in 1947. Nation urgently required mass education program like ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ launched by HRD Minister Dr. MM Joshi during Prime Ministership of AB Vajpayee. Nehru had his own whims and fancies, neglected education sector because he never wished the nation to prosper at all unlike Japan, South Korea and Singapore who exceedingly stressed on education of all and results are there for all to see.
Mass education of people would not have allowed Nehru to hang around PMs chair for 17 long years, an axiomatic reality Nehru knew so well. True to his fundamental traits, Nehru transformed education into an elite sector by promoting English medium education for which nincompoop Nehruites claimed accolades for raising a few elite institutions in technology, management and medicine viz. IITs, IIMs and AIIMS etc. in spite of Nehru not being connected with all that even remotely. Students graduating from these elite institutions had no significant role to exercise owing to utter lack of developmental infrastructure and indifferent attitude of his Government. No restrictions or conditionalites were imposed upon them to serve the nation for a certain number of years after receiving expensive education heavily subsidised with taxpayers hard-earned money in an abjectly impoverished nation. What were consequences then ? Majority of them migrated abroad to chase US $$, Green-Cards for themselves and their wives while nation was reduced to languish like abject beggars. It is widely believed that such a situation was intentionally created by Nehru prodded by his overseas masters to provide them highly skilled and highly educated professionals raised at no cost to them to work for their prosperity while Government led by Nehru pathetically prided themselves in counting US $ remitted by them back home.
Elite education was a reserve for English speaking Convent-brainwashed people who knew more about the west, their elitism, snobbery and arrogant racism than anything about Bharata. As a matter of fact, anything glorious about Bharata became mythology to them. Nehru never ever rendered even slightest effort to indigenise education by liberating it from clutches of McCaulay-Products. In the name of ‘Unity in Diversity of Plurality’, the last Mughal created one more divide of Hindi medium educated ‘Bhaiya-Bahanji’ types and English medium educated ‘Hi Bi Yeah Yeah You Know’ types. Every Tom, Dick and Harry of Nehru knew who grabbed lions share of resources for themselves. Even private sector was not permitted to raise institutions of excellence and eminence with their own resources barring a few viz. Tatas and Birlas. According to some, Nehru was ‘criminally’ incompetent not to ensure 100% literacy within first decade immediately after the ‘at the stroke of mid-night…’ phenomenon dramatized by him.
Let us now dissect and expose claims of Nehruites who credit Nehru for ideas of IITs, IIMs and several other prestigious institutions. So far Nehruites have not been able to respond effectively whether five IITs and three IIMs were enough for a nation of the size of Bharatavarsha with 35 crore strong population of 1950s. IITs and CSIR were in fact conceptualised by Sir Ardeshir Dalal, member of Viceroys Executive Council (VEC) and supported by members like Dr. BC Roy, NR Sarkar, JC Ghosh etc. Arcot Ramaswami Mudaliar conceptualised CSIR that came into existence in 1940 through efforts of Dr. SP Mukherjee who went ahead in raising several more institutions like National Physical Laboratory, National Chemical Laboratory, National Metallurgical Laboratory, Fuel Research Institute, Ceramics Research Institute, Central Leather Research Institute, Central Electro-Chemical Research Institute etc. Scientific temper had been profoundly in existence in Bharata for thousands of years. Banaras Hindu University was founded by Pandit MM Malaviya, Indian Institute Of Science and Tata Institute Of Fundamental Research by JN Tata, Indian Association For The Cultivation Of Science by ML Sarkar, Indian Statistical Institute by PC Mahalanobis, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. by Walchand Hirachand etc. Quite deftly and brazenly, Nehruites appropriated plaudits of raising these august institutions by themselves and laurelled the last Mughal strangely oblivious of the stark reality that all those institutions pre-dated the last Mughal by several years or even decades.
On the lines of IITs, Nehru had absolutely nothing to do with AIIMS, Delhi too as he had opposed the committee headed by Dr. AL Mudaliar to oversee raising the medical institute on the ground that housing problem must be sorted out first !! Endowed with the same ‘wisdom’ he had ignored recommendation of AICTE to raise national level management institutes to be styled as IIMs. He was profoundly averse to scientific research and development, did everything under his command to throttle brilliant scientists through his network of socialist pseudo-scientists. They resolutely sat over files of research proposals for long followed by queries and rejections in significant numbers. They strangulated scientific spirit that led to several suicides by scientists particularly in Indian Agriculture Research Institute. Large number of outstanding scientists left the country for greener pastures abroad and the phenomenon came to be prided as ‘Brain-drain’. Brain-drain was sanctified as ‘Brain-drain is better than brain in the drain’ by those very oppressors who were responsible for ‘Brain-drain’ as multiple drains for ‘Brain-drain’ was developed by them only.
The last Mughal Jawaharlal Nehru raised an India always longingly looking at west for endorsements, innovations, research publications in their journals and every other intellectual input under the sun.
