Need to develop proper sports structure to make India a superpower in sports, says Kiren Rijiju

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju today said that it is important to develop proper sports structure in the country to make India a sporting superpower.

He said, upcoming Khelo India University Games will provide a platform for sportspersons to showcase their talent.

After launching the anthem of first Khelo India University Games in New Delhi, he said, in the world’s top sporting nation, university games are being organized in a professional manner to hone the best talent.

He said, our universities are excited about taking part in the Khelo India University Games. He hoped that like Khelo India Youth Games, several records would be broken by the athletes during the games.

In the event, Olympian shooter Manu Bhakar said that Khelo India School Games helped to bring out the best sporting talent and these games will also provide a wonderful platform to build super athletes in the country.

The first Khelo India University Games will be organized in Bhubneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha from the 22nd of this month which will continue till the 1st of March.
