National intelligence agency is conducting a raid in Kozhikode suspecting the presence of Maoists. The raid, led by NIA Kochi unit, is being held in Pariyangode area near Cherukulathoor since early morning. Two persons have been taken into custody and are being interrogated.
According to reports, the two persons, presently in custody, have links to Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal, two students who were arrested by the Kerala police from Kozhikode for allegedly distributing pro-Maoist pamphlets under UAPA Act.
It is known that the raid is part of the questioning of Alan and Thaha. Also, another raid is being carried out at the residence of CP Jaleel, native of Pandikkad in Malappuram, who died of police firing in Wayanad.
The charge sheet against Alan and Thaha was filed by NIA two days back. Various sections have been charged against three persons Alan, Thaha and CP Usman who is absconding.
Alan is named the first accused, Thaha the second and Usman the third accused in the charge sheet which terms the three as members of banned organization CPI Maoist.
IPC Section 120B, for criminal conspiracy, UAPA Section 13 for unlawful activities and UAPA Section 38, 39 for terrorist activities have been charged against them.
