Mansoor murder case: Kerala opposition leader alleges attempt to sabotage probe

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday alleged that there were attempts from CPM to sabotage the probe in the murder of the Muslim League activist Mansoor in Panoor here.

There is mystery over handing over the probe to Crime Branch directly. The investigating official is linked to CPM. The UDF will not allow any attempts to destroy evidences, he added.

Chennithala was speaking to media after visiting Mansoor’s house along with UDF leaders PK Kunhalikutty, K Sudhakaran and Sadiqali Shihab Thangal.

Kunhalikutty responded that UDF will not approve the present probe. The probe team has been entrusted with the duty of erasing the incident and we are not ready for it, he said.

“Neither the family nor UDF believes in the probe. Why was the young man killed? We couldn’t witness the sorrow of the parents. It is more saddening that efforts are being made to protect the accused,” he added.

The real culprits should be brought before law. This will not happen in the ongoing investigation. A special team of IPS officers should be constituted to probe into the incident, Chennithala demanded.
