Most of the schemes and programmes of the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal have a single-point focus: how to appease Muslims. Islamisation is taking place at a very fast pace in the state. The Muslim appeasement policy being adopted by the Trinamool Congress government has turned culturally-rich West Bengal into a graveyard of Hindus and their culture. The government has done precious little to curb mounting communal tension in Muslim-majority areas. Hindus are not allowed to celebrate Puja festival in many areas where the Muslim population is sizable. In Birbhum, the local administration did not allow 300 families in a Muslim-majority locality to put up pandal for the puja.
Recently, The Mamata government has launched a drive to ‘secularise’ language by removing all words that have a Hindu influence. The West Bengal Council for Higher Education has replaced the Bangali word for rainbow, Ramdhenu (Lord Ram’s bow) with Rongdhenu (bow of colours). Mamata has taken a cue from Islamists in Bangladesh who had junked many words in Bengali to erase all traces of Hindu influence. According to reports, the move has triggered a huge controversy on social media and among a section of the academia. But opposition parties, Left-liberals and mainstream media have turned a blind eye to the issue.

Language experts say there is no word in Bengali dictionary as ‘rongdhenu’. According to The New Indian Express, in the Class VII ‘Environment and Science’ book’s ‘Barnali’ chapter, one of the colours of ‘rongdhenu’ has been mentioned as ‘Aasmani’, the Urdu word for sky blue that is widely used in Muslim-majority Bangladesh instead of ‘Akaashi’ that is used in West Bengal.
There has been a huge surge in Muslim population in the state, thanks to infiltration from Bangladesh and lack of family planning among Muslims. Radicalisation o f Muslim youths is rampant. According to 2011 census, three districts – Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur and Malda – of the state have already become Muslim dominated. In more than 100 Assembly seats, of the 294, Muslim vote would determine the poll outcome.
A few years ago, Leftist academicians in Kerala with the active support of the government of the day doctored a famous poem by Mahakavi Akkitham to please Islamists. They changed a word ‘Krishna varnam’ in the poem to ‘beauty of (dark) rose apple’. In another instance, the Calicut University included top Al-Qaeda leader’s poem in the syllabus. The university withdrew the poem after Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad protested
