A Malappuram native, identified as Musammil P, was apprehended in Idukki for allegedly assaulting a woman on a KSRTC bus. The incident took place near Vazhakulam in Thodupuzha.
According to the victim’s complaint, she was traveling on a KSRTC bus from Ernakulam to Thodupuzha when the accused, seated at the rear of the bus, moved to her seat and inappropriately touched her while she was asleep. Startled by the assault, the woman quickly changed her seat.
The accused followed her and made further attempts to harm her. The bus staff intervened and ensured the safety of the victim. She then reported the incident to the KSRTC staff on board, who made the decision to take the bus to Thodupuzha police station.
Upon his arrest, Musammil failed to provide a clear explanation for his presence in Thodupuzha, raising suspicions among the authorities. The police are investigating the possibility that he may have committed similar offenses on crowded buses in the past.
