The untimely demise of Jijo Augustin, a resident of Kacheripady, has left his family in shock and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Jijo, who was employed on a ship, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong police informed Jijo’s family that his body was recovered from the sea.
The family of the deceased has alleged that Jijo faced death threats while working on the ship. According to reports, Jijo had expressed concerns about his safety during a telephone conversation with his family on May 13. He had also shared his worries with a friend, highlighting the potential risks he was facing on the ship.
For the past four days, Jijo had been missing from the ship, causing alarm among his loved ones. The family received a phone call from an individual claiming to be the captain of the ship, notifying them of Jijo’s disappearance. Concerned about his welfare, Jijo’s family promptly filed a complaint with Member of Parliament Hibi Eden, who took immediate action by contacting the Hong Kong police through his office. Subsequently, a probe was initiated by the Hong Kong police, leading to the recovery of Jijo’s body from the sea.
Further investigations, including the completion of post-mortem procedures, are underway to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Jijo Augustin’s tragic death.
