In a shocking incident, Vigilance DySP Velayudhan Nair fled during a raid conducted at his house in Kazhakoottam in a bribery case. The raid which started on Wednesday afternoon ended at 9 pm, during which some crucial evidence was obtained by the investigating team.
According to sources, after signing his statement, Nair fled through the back of the house while the raid was going on. The investigation team seized his phone and bank records. The case against Nair arose after the secretary of Thiruvalla Municipality, Narayanan, was arrested in a bribery case. When Narayanan’s bank records were examined, it was discovered that an amount of Rs 50,000 had been sent to Nair’s son’s account. A detailed investigation was conducted in this regard.
Further investigation revealed that the money was given to Velayudhan Nair, the then investigating officer, as a bribe to settle the case against Narayanan. Following this, a case was registered against Nair under the Anti-Corruption Department. It is hinted that some crucial evidence has been obtained during the raid, which might help the investigating team in the case.
