Kerala that tops in the highest incidence of cancer in India followed by Mizoram, Haryana and Delhi, will have treatment centres in all districts, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. In a media briefing, he said that in the wake of coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown, cancer treatment centres have been set up in all districts of Kerala.
In total 21 cancer treatment centres have been established so far, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a media briefing. He further claimed that the system is first of a kind in India. Since cancer patients are less immune, it would be difficult for them to travel far and seek treatment. Hence treatment centres have been established in all districts,” he added.
At present, the centres have been established with the cooperation of Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Centre (RCC). It will be upgraded and facilities will be widened in cooperation with other cancer centres, he added.
