While the probe into the brutal murder of RSS leader Srinivasan progresses, police revealed that the accused targeted two more persons. However, they were spared as the situation didn’t go as planned, said ADGP Vijay Sakhare. The ADGP said that this became clear when the accused were questioned.
Meanwhile, three more people involved in the conspiracy have been arrested. Imam Kanjirapuzha Akkiyampadam Saddam Hussain (30), Kavilpad Kallamparambil Ashraf (29) and Kunnumpuram Ashfaq (23) were arrested. With this, the number of those arrested in the case has increased to seven. However, those directly involved in Srinivasan’s murder have not yet been caught.
The arrests of the three were recorded on Friday evening. Of the four arrested on Thursday, police found Shankhuvaramedu H, who was involved in the murder plot and arrived at the scene at the time of the incident. Mohammad Bilal, 22, and Sahad, 22, who were involved in the conspiracy and provided other assistance to the group, were taken into custody on Friday morning.
Evidence was first taken at a shrine in the Shankhuvaramedu area and in a nearby area of houses. The mobile phone, scooter and autorickshaw used by the Shankhuvaramedu resident were found here. There are indications that the weapons were delivered in an autorickshaw.
Evidence was also taken on the grounds near the district hospital mortuary where the accused had gathered for the conspiracy before the crime and in front of the shrine on the hospital premises. The accused had gathered here on the night of Zubair’s murder in Elappully on the 15th and the next morning.
The two were taken to Srinivasan’s shop in Melamuri and evidence was taken. Police have found that the detainees were present at the time of the incident. The accused later showed another two-wheeler hidden in Puthupparyaram to the probe team.
