Kerala reported a record 608 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest number reported in the state, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a press meet here. He was speaking to the media after the COVID review meeting.
Out of the total COVID positive cases, 201 were reported from Thiruvananthapuram. 396 developed the disease through contact. Meanwhile, 181 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Out of the total cases, 130 came from abroad, 68 came from other states, health workers – 8, BSF – 2, Indo Tibetan Border Police Force – 2, CISF – 2. The sources of 26 COVID positive cases have not been traced.
Out of the total positive cases, Thiruvananthapuram has the most number of cases with 201, Ernakulam – 70, Malappuram – 58, Kozhikode – 58, Kasaragod – 44, Thrissur – 42, Alappuzha – 34, Palakkad – 26, Kottayam – 25, Kollam – 23, Wayanad – 12, Kannur – 12 and Pathanamthitta – 3.
Among the 181 recoveries, 15 are from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam – 2, Alappuzha – 17, Kottayam – 5, Thrissur – 9, Palakkad – 49, Malappuram – 9, Kozhikode – 21, Kannur – 49 and Kasaragod – 5.
A total of 14,227 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 1,81,847 people are under observation out of which 4,376 have been admitted to hospitals. 720 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday, the most until date in the state.
So far, Kerala has recorded 8,930 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,454 are undergoing treatment. So far, 2,52,302 samples have been sent for testing. Out of this, results of 7,745 samples are awaited.
The number of hotspots in the state increased to 227.
