Kerala recorded highest-ever single day spike of 339 new cases of coronavirus today, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Meanwhile 149 recovered.
Of the total cases, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest cases with 95, followed by Malappuram 55, Palakkad 50, Thrissur 27, Alappuzha 22, Idukki 20, Ernakulam 12, Kasaragod 11, Kollam 10, Kozhikode 8, Kottayam 7, Wayanad 7, Pathanamthitta 7, Kannur 8.
Of the cases, 117 arrived from foreign, 74 other states. The highest cases of contact were reported today with 133.
This is the second consecutive day with more than 300 cases. The situation in Kerala is worsening day by day.
Meanwhile, the entire village where super spreading of COVID-19 was detected has been cordoned off is in triple lockdown. Commandos have been deployed here to ensure law and order. All the 54 cases reported from Poonthura on Wednesday contracted the virus through local transmission.
Of the 600 swab samples collected from the village, 119 tested positive. Minister Kadakampally Surendran, who is in charge of the district’s pandemic control measures, while talking to media persons confirmed that super spreading has been detected in the coastal village.
