The TransGrid project at Chithirapuram in Idukki also witnessed a huge corruption, Kerala Media quoting opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.
Kerala Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala today accused ruling LDF government for multi-crore corruption in Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) while inviting tender for a KSEB project. Leaving the communist government under the shadow a huge scam, the former minister also alleged that corruption has taken place in the name of a large scale TransGrid project for power transmission too.
The accusations are chiefly based on the tenders the government has invited. Opposition leader pointed out that during the process, the pre-qualification was changed in favour of L&T and Starlet companies, however, the tender was given for 60 percent higher rates than normal rates. KSEB’s TransGrid projects Kottayam lines and Kolathunadu projects were implemented through KIIFB.
He also said that the appointment of chief engineer to give tender was also made without following the criteria. The TransGrid project at Chithirapuram in Idukki for which Rs 11 lakh was estimated resulted in the expenditure of a massive 11 crore budget, he added, which points out to a huge corruption in the project.
He further said that the Accountant General’s auditing is not conducted in KIIFB as corruption takes place there. Pointing out that a state-led investigation would fail to bring out the truth, the opposition leader has demanded a CBI probe or judicial probe into the matter.
