Kerala film director who raised his voice looking at most of the hotels in the state closed during Ramadan, is facing cyberattack from Muslim fundamentalists. In another post he made on Facebook, the director alleged that the number of followers he had has reduced significantly after the incident.
The controversy started when the director made a post criticising hotel owners for keeping restaurants closed during the daytime.

“My lunch in Kozhikode today is just unnakkaya (a traditional short-eat) because I have no other favourite food available here,” wrote the director. He further requested owners to put up a sign outside their restaurants saying that the shop is closed until 7 pm and that the food here is for Muslims only.
Soon after he made the post, thousands of people came up with their reactions, most of them attacking the director for his anti-Islamic stance. The following posts contain the reactions to the post and his replies to them. His latest post is a quote from Qur-an that says:
“Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet (s), , said: “When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: `I am fasting”
-which is also aimed at Islamic fundamentalists.
Reminding Islamic countries, it is a common scene in Kerala, most of the hotels are closed during the daytime in the month of Ramadan.
