Kerala Health Minister K. K. Shailaja today blamed people from other states for the suprespread of Coronavirus in Poonthura in the capital city. As per reports she has also warned people to stay away from ‘outsiders’ to avoid further spreading of the pandemic.
“COVID-19 has spread across Tamil Nadu and many people from there come to Kerala for trade,” the minster said urging people to avoid contact with people coming from Tamil Nadu and rest of the states.
Meanwhile, a protest in Poonthura violating the lockdown resulted in a clash between police and the public. Residents of the village protested demanding authorities to allow them to buy essential items including food.
Officials led by the ACP are holding talks with the public. There are plans to transfer the elderly in the area to a special centre. It is learned that those above 70 years of age will be shifted to a special area within the region.
