Customs Joint Commissioner, who had CPM links and who tried to protect the Chief Minister’s office in the controversial gold smuggling case was transferred to Nagpur after he allegations were levelled against him in the gold smuggling case.
After the gold seizure at Thiruvananthapuram airport, Anish Rajan had told the media that Customs did not recieve any phone calls from the Chief Minister’s office. But allegations surfaced that it was a cover-up.
Anish Rajan’s elder brother was a CPM councillor. The recent Facebook post by Anish also triggered controversy. An IRS official who serves in a top post should not make any controversial post on social media. But Anish had committed similar mistakes earlier also.
Examining these facts, the opposition raised allegations against him.
Following this, the central government carried out an investigation and took action against him.
Earlier, it was reported that he will be removed from the probe team and transferred to Guwahati.
