In a shocking report from Kerala, a film director and two others were forced to spend in a COVID centre after falsely tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the complaint, a woman and her newborn baby in Kottayam and a film director in Changanassery were taken to the COVID treatment centre based on the wrong test results.
John Paul George, director of hit movies ‘Guppy’ and ‘Ambili’ was one among the three who were forced to spend days at the centre due to the mistake of the private lab. The director filed a complaint with the Chief Minister, health minister and district collector regarding the issue.
John Paul George had undergone the COVID test at Medivision lab in Kottayam after his friend tested positive. The test results declared him COVID positive. Following this, he got admitted to a COVID centre in Changanassery.
On the next day, the health department conducted another test for him due to some doubts. The test result declared the film director COVID negative after three days from the test. Immediately, he collected a discharge letter and left the centre. But as he was admitted in the COVID centre, he was asked to observe home quarantine.
The director revealed that he decided to complain after one of his friends had a similar experience. Kottayam native Dony Joseph’s pregnant wife had undergone a COVID test before her delivery. Her sample was also tested at Medivision lab in Kottayam through the hospital.
The test result from this private lab declared the woman as COVID positive. Following this, the woman and newborn child were immediately shifted to home quarantine. Amidst this, a yellow discolouration developed on the baby’s skin.
Though the family approached private hospitals, nobody was ready to admit the baby. Following this, the mother and baby were taken to the COVID centre at Kottayam general hospital.
When the health officials took the woman for COVID test, she also tested negative. But the mother and baby completed four days at the centre. Director John Paul criticized that the newborn child was denied breastmilk due to the wrong COVID test result.
