A farmer here killed himself on Wednesday as he reportedly failed to harvest his paddy crops due to a financial crisis.
Muraleedharan (48), hailing from Peruvemba, was found hanging in his relative’s barn on Wednesday.
Earlier, he had to sell his land due to debt. Muralidharan cultivated ten acres of land he took on the lease. However, he was unable to reap as he failed to pay the rent for the harvesting machine brought from Tamil Nadu.
Police said they had recovered a suicide note. The body is taken for post-mortem after the inquest.
