Following the win in Kerala LSG elections, CPM goons unleashed statewide violence against BJP workers. Party workers were attacked in several places, including Kozhikode, Kollam and Kannur. The houses of the activists were also attacked.
The CPM unleashed an attack on the BJP workers who celebrated the victory in Kozhikode. In Koilandi, a walkout during an election-related joyous demonstration culminated in clashes. Police rushed to the spot and charged lathi.
BJP activist Sajesh was assaulted at Srikantapuram in Kannur. Sajesh was beaten by CPM activists who came to protest in Aicheri town, a stronghold of the CPM. In Onchiyam, BJP candidate Shalu was also attacked. Shalu was rushed to hospital with a head injury. Sanila, a candidate from the 18th ward in Kunnoth Param, was also attacked. All four people who were with Sanila were injured.
During the victory celebrations in Guruvayur, CPM activists attacked a pregnant woman inside her house. A young man, his pregnant wife, a 6-year-old child and a 75-year-old father were allegedly assaulted at home. The goons threw themselves into the house. Guruvayur-Kandanassery police reached the spot but refused to arrest the culprits. The house of BJP activist Ratheesh was also attacked in Kollam Corporation Kurippuzha division.
