Kerala crime branch unit will investigate the custodial death of a youth at the Thiruvallam police station. The officials will investigate the case charged against the deceased and the incident surrounding his death in police custody.
The case is being probed by a team led by Assistant Commissioner B Anilkumar. The investigating officials said that documents related to the case will be collected from Thiruvallam station on Wednesday.
Earlier, Thiruvallam police arrested five people for assaulting a couple and a friend. Suresh, one of the five arrested in the case, later died in police custody. Following this, Suresh’s relatives and locals had come to the scene alleging that police torture was the cause of death.
For a whole day, locals and relatives protested in front of the police station.
