Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will take part in the strike in solidarity with the ongoing farmers’ agitation against the newly enacted farm laws. The chief minister may publicly reply to the Governor at the venue of the farmers’ agitation.
The chief minister and the ministers are participating in the protest staged by joint farmers’ committee near the Martyrs Hall. The governor had the other denied government’s recommendation to convene the assembly for an hour to pass a resolution against the agriculture law amendment.
The government is of the belief that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who rejected the recommendation to convene the assembly, having a firm majority, has exercised a power that he does not have. This has now paved the way for a political war between the governor and the government on one side and the opposition on the other. Agriculture Minister V S Sunil Kumar alleged that there is politics behind governor’s decision.
