Kerala-based Malabar Cancer Centre has developed a sports bra-like jacket fixed with sensors helps to detect cancer easily. Malabar Cancer Centre has received US patent for the invention.
Early detection of breast cancer remains crucial as most of the cancer cases reported in women of Kerala have been breast cancer. The new jacket to diagnose cancer was developed with the support of Centre for Materials for Electronic Technology and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
Experts ensured that testing with the help of the jacket is simple. The new cancer detection method is cheap and has no after effects. The test requires the person to wear it and wait for 30 minutes.
Each cup of the jacket comprises 16 sensors. The sensors will detect the position and volume of the cancer cells by identifying the temperature difference between the normal cells and cancer cells in the breast region. The result will be available in a graph format in the connected monitor.
The jacket was 100 per cent successful in the tests conducted for the cancer-affected person from Malabar Cancer Centre, said reports.
