Kerala Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution unanimously demanding the Centre to ensure COVID-19 vaccines free of cost to all states.
Health Minister Veena George moved the resolution in the House following reports that the state was facing economic crisis reels due to acute vaccine shortage.
The resolution urged the Centre for timely distribution of the vaccines. Free universal vaccination is necessary to protect all sections of the society from the virus, she said.
The economy was weakened after the first wave of COVID-19 and now the second wave created much more trouble, she added. The resolution got the support of Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front
