Kerala government has approved new courses in government, aided colleges and universities.
49 new courses have been approved in 47 government colleges, 117 courses in 105 aided colleges, 19 courses in 8 universities and 12 new courses in 8 engineering colleges.
A six-member committee led by MG University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sabu Thomas was appointed to file a report as part of the Chief Minister’s 100-day program. Apart from the committee report, universities were also given the opportunity to file the report.
The new courses have been approved for universities that have secured a certain grade in NAAC accreditation. However, this is not applicable for government colleges, colleges run by SC/ST community and Devaswom board colleges.
Higher Education Minister, KT Jaleel stated that the government aims to make quality higher education available for everyone and that due to COVID-19, many students have opted to pursue their higher studies within the state.
