Did dubious journalist Siddhique Kappan, arrested in a UAPA case, try to mislead the Supreme Court? Indus Scrolls investigation reveals that the claim of Kappan’s wife in her rejoinder filed along with the bail plea in the Supreme Court is false and misleading. Her claim has created a major controversy in Kerala media circles.
In the rejoinder to UP Police affidavit filed in the Apex Court, Kappan’s wife states: “In 2018 he (Kappan) left Thejas Daily and joined Veekshanam Daily, a Congress mouthpiece and Mangalam Daily for a few months. ”
Indus Scrolls cross-checked with the concerned correspondents and editors of these newspapers and confirmed that Kappan has never worked for them.
The blatant lie that Kappan worked for reputed newspapers is to show off his credentials as a journalist. Apart from PFI mouthpiece Thejas, Kappan has worked only for Talsamayam, which didn’t last for one year. Then he joined Azhimukham, a dubiously funded online platform, peddling mostly anti-national news.
Another aim for this false claim is to account for the money received from PFI sources as payments for his journalistic work.
Swamy Bhargava Ram, a Hindu Aikyavedi leader, has brought this issue to social media by questioning the claims on working in these organisations. The managements of these publications are stunned by the claim of Kappan. They are unlikely to approach judiciary as they fear violent reprisals from Popular Front.
