BJP state president K Surendran may not contest the assembly polls. It is reported that Surendran may step back from contesting the polls as most of the leaders have turned candidates. Hence, Surendran has informed the central leadership that he will coordinate the election campaign.
At the same time, a final decision in this regard is awaited. Talking to mathrubhumi.com, a senior leader has confirmed this report.
Earlier, BJP activists demanded to field Surendran in any of the constituencies in Kozhikode. The party also considered him from Konni or Manjeshwaram.
Union minister V Muraleedharan, actor Suresh Gopi, Kummanam Rajasekharan, PK Krishnadas and Abdulakutty are likely to contest the polls. Following this, Surendran informed the leadership that he will lead the campaign.
Apart from this, the national committee of BJP has completed the survey seeking recommendations on candidates in various constituencies. The candidates will be selected as per this survey.
BJP national president JP Nadda will visit Kerala in February to examine the election activities.
